The cliffs at Ponta da Piedade

We drove south with no plan past Lagos and kept stopping every time the road bent back toward the water. The last evening we found a staircase down to a cove with nobody on it. Cold water, warm rock, the sun going flat across the sea. We stayed until we could not see the path back up.
